MLG announces record viewership

... I wanted 300k concurrent or would be disappointed - just means that there is work to be done in 2012. - Tweet from MLG CEO Sundance DiGiovanni

Major League Gaming announced record breaking viewership numbers in a press release this morning, topping numbers recently disclosed by the organizers of DreamHack. Notable statistics include a record 241,000 concurrent viewers for its Providence event stream from 175 countries. The National Championships weekend accounted for over 3.6 million hours of the 15 million-plus hours of video streams consumed by viewers over the season.

The numbers show that MLG's events outpace major cable channels such as TBS or FX in the 18-24 male demographic for viewership. The attendees at live events are also up as well, with over 97,000 live attendees throughout the entire season, a majority of which came to Anaheim.
