MajOr signs with x6, aims for Providence

Mexican StarCraft 2 player Juan "MajOr" Lopez, who's been spending his time training in South Korea inside the TSL house, will now be representing North American-based e-sports organization CheckSix Gaming (x6). With his new contract in place, MajOr will also be sporting a new player handle: WinDy. Although most commonly known as "MajOr", Lopez had recently been using "Terran" as his player handle. His recent stints with teams include Sixjax Gaming and, before that, ROOT.

Now back in North America, MajOr has his sights set on this year's MLG national championships at MLG Providence in Rhode Island (November 18-20).

CheckSix will be sending Lopez back to South Korea in January, with the end goal being to try to qualify for GSL Code A. Although his time in South Korea beginning in January will last at least four months, the statement said he is expected to continue attending MLG events through 2012.

About his teaming up with x6, Lopez said:

I am so excited to come to CheckSix and show great results. We will show all that we are a great team with good players. Thank you to CheckSix for the opportunity to prove myself. You may also follow me on my new Twitter account @x6winDy.

Michael "GeneralHans" Starr, x6 team operations director, also commented:

I am extremely proud of the signing which brings Juan onboard our team; he is an exceptionally talented player who can only grow in time. We understand Juan has had a checkered past with organizations from time-to-time, but we are confident in speaking with him that he is completely dedicated to both CheckSix and his game. Thank you all for the continued support.

Two episodes of "New Path" (below), the Artosis-produced mini-documentary that chronicles Lopez's time spent training with TSL in South Korea, were released during his time in Sixjax Gaming.

Lopez followed up his Latin America Battle.net Invitational win with a lackluster performance at BlizzCon 2011, losing 1-2 to Naniwa before being eliminated by JazBas in two maps. He had also been participating in the MLG Global Invitational North American qualifier, starting strong but eventually losing out to two Zergs in a row (IdrA and Sheth), knocking him out.
