Due to financial reasons, Moscow 5 announced the release of their League of Legends squad on Wednesday.
After M5 founder Dmitry Smelyi was arrested by the FBI in June for allegedly dealing in stolen credit card data, sponsorship money became the sole source of funding for the organization. Realizing funding was tight, Moscow 5 slowly parted ways with their other teams, before having to release the League of Legends team as well.
The team was reportedly offered deals two or three more times lucrative by other international teams several times but decided to stay with M5. Team manager Konstantin “Groove” Pikiner quickly silenced the rumor of the team heading to Na’Vi stating, “Absolutely precisely I can tell, that we shall not see them flying the Na’Vi flag.”
With the release of their League of Legends team, Moscow 5 becomes inactive.
