The Launch of ESFI World
We did it! It was a long and (sometimes) painful process, but we have finally released ESFI World, a project literally years in the making. Back when Brent first approached me with ESFI, I immediately knew I wanted to be involved. From then till now we've been on a truly incredible ride and I'll be the first to admit that mistakes were made along the way. Anyone interested in reading more about how ESFI first began should check out our entry in Esports Yearbook 2009.
The original 2007 ESFI design
ESFI World was built in direct response to a need in the competitive gaming community for a feature rich, unbiased news site dedicated to the unification and development of the e-sport industry. One of our key philosophical principals is that all information on ESFI should be organized in an easy to use, logical way.Whether you want to find information on events, players, teams or authors, ESFI indexes information in a way that we hope is intuitive and useful for our users.
More than that though, we're hoping that users and content creators embrace our submission tools. We want to provide useful services not only for fans, but also tools content producers can use to promote their own work to a larger, international audience. If you have an opinion on SF4 legend Daigo Umehara, you can write your piece, tag Daigo in it and it will now associate your content on Daigo's player profile for other Daigo fans to discover.
Soon we will be launching our ESFI Tracker, which will send you a notification any time content comes in through to any of your tracked players, teams and authors (you can begin creating your tracking lists now by clicking the 'Track player/team' button on professional profiles or 'Follow Me' on any user profile).
And we are by no means done. This version of ESFI represents just a fraction of what we intend it to become. I hope you guys join us for the ride. Send us your feedback along the way!
