Launch Day Dev Blog
I'll be posting these development blogs once a week to update everybody about the progress we're making on the website.
Today is launch day, so we'll finally get to see how everything's going to work on a larger scale that we've not experienced before. Rest assured, we had a lengthy testing period, but due to the large scale of the website, we anticipate some hidden bugs to reveal themselves over the next few days. The site is definitely not perfect yet, but we'll get there.
What you're seeing now is only about 40% of what we eventually want ESFI World to become. We have a long list of functionality features that we are adding as we can, and the first one that is most important: the ESFI "Tracker".
Half of the Tracker's functionality is already working. That is, an registered user can track their favorite players and teams. The other half of that, which is still in development, is what makes it so powerful. This feature will notify you any time any of your tracked players or teams are:
- Scheduled to compete in an event
- Scheduled in a match
- Played and won or loss a match
- Mentioned in a news item, feature or blog
- Tagged in a video or photo gallery
- Any updates to the profile
- Team changes (team releases a player, player joins a team, etc.)
- ...and some other cool things
The Tracker will be tested throughout this week and will be live on the website the week of Monday, Dec. 6th.
If you find any bugs, please be sure to report them! If you have any feedback, do the same! We'll get them fixed as soon as possible.
Thank you in advance, and we hope you enjoy the website!
