Intel Extreme Masters: Day 3 (3/2/11)
8:20 A.M: I just woke up, eventhough we planned on really getting up around 7:00 today. Oh well.
I'm gonna spare you guys the details of me showering and getting ready for a second, hopefully more successful day than yesterday.
After breakfast, we decide to spend the 8€ on parking at the venue today and just go there by car, which would take us around 10 minutes - if only we knew the way. As the navigation system decides not to find the satellite for about 15 minutes and it is 9:10 A.M. already, we just accept the fact that we're gonna be late again.
As we arrive at the venue, we notice that there's no room at the "North Gate" anymore, having to park at the "West Gate", which pretty much enhanced the morning, making for another awesome start to the day.
So we end up walking through several halls at the fair until we actually get to the one we're supposed to be at after 20 minutes. It is 10:20 A.M. when we arrive in the press area - one hour late. We set up our laptops (at another table than the day before, because someone dared to take our spots right next to the coffee machine!) and I go straight to work, checking the scores, looking for people to talk to...you know the deal.
Having a microphone this time, I get to interview some people, inlcuding Dandaking and MorroW, getting very comfortable with the job. Thinking to myself that "today will be a much better day" I just do whatever I can to get to know people and get ourselves some good content. I think about the possibility of running over the main stage doing all kinds of silly things, but abandon the idea pretty quickly. Sadly enough.
7 P.M: Pretty much everything is over and was supposed to be about an hour ago - except for StarCraft 2, which turns out to take another 2 hours to finish due to a bunch of triple-ties between Squirtle, Socke and SjoW. Squirtle comes out victorious after I shared a bunch of my food with my comrades from fnatic, who were, due to the only place you could get food at within the hall already being closed for 3 hours, pretty much starving.
We leave the venue at around 9:30 P.M., get back to the hostel and decide to find the people from fnatic to grab some dinner with them, after realizing that everything around our hostel is closed. As we only got their address though, which turns out to be an apartment building, we would have to ring every apartment in the building in order to find them, probably waking up half the people in there.
So we drive off and find a Italian restaurant not far away, which you could have perfectly seen in any mafia movie out there. The restaurant looked rather fancy, the prices were insane and there was a long table at the end of the restaurant at which the owner sat, a big Italian man in a black suit. We decide to leave the restaurant rather quickly after drinking a coke, due to the owner mumbling Italian gibberish that might have as well been him threatening to shoot us with a tommy-gun.
On our way back to the hostel, still craving for some dinner, we find a McDonalds - maybe not the best option to a fancy Italian restaurant, but it does fill your stomach, I suppose. We drive back to the hostel after eating a burger or two and I look very much forward to the fourth day of my adventure.
