Roll Call Ep. 6: Rebuilding the CoD community

On Thursday, February 16th, ESFI World's Emily Clark will host the sixth episode of Roll Call, ESFI TV's Call of Duty show. This week's episode will feature pro player John "RevaN" Boble, along with MLG's commentators for the 2011 season, Alex "Goldenboy" Mendez and Corey "considerit" Dunn. The show airs at 5:30 PM PST / 8:30 EST, as always, on ESFI TV.

For the past few weeks, the Call of Duty community was been sitting on the edge of their seats awaiting announcements from Infinity Ward and Major League Gaming regarding Call of Duty's status in the MLG pro circuit lineup. Sadly, the answers the community received were not the ones they wanted to hear. After Infinity Ward failed to develop the LAN capability that the game would require, MLG chose not to pick up Call of Duty for their winter season.

The announcement left the community at a crossroads; some gave up while others began to look in new directions. In many ways, the game's release from the circuit is an opportunity for the Call of Duty community to prove itself resilient enough to exist outside of MLG. Success is only possible, however, through planning, teamwork and discussion among intelligent individuals involved in the scene. Tonight at 8:30pm EST (5:30pm PST), ESFI TV hosts what is hopefully one of the first major steps to getting Call of Duty back on track.

Tonight's lineup features a slew of influential individuals in the Call of Duty community including the co-host of MLG's scintillating new show Weekly Warfare, Alex "GoldenBoy" Mendez. Alex is a major supporter and voice within the Call of Duty community and works relentlessly to ensure its success.

Roll Call's second guest, Corey Dunn, is co-host of ESEANews' FPS show "Choke Point", which not only covers Call of Duty but all competitive first-person shooter games. Corey is also a major figure in the CounterStrike community, and is quite familiar with the peaks and valleys that a FPS' community can be subjected to.

Host Emily Clark will also welcome a few professional players back to the show: Matt "NaDeSHoT" Haag from OpTic Nation and John "RevaN" Boble. These two guys were breakout performers on the 2011 circuit. Pro players are directly affected by the recent decision by MLG, and these two players' points of view will be important to listen to.

Roll Call will feature discussions among Corey, Alex, Matt and John on how the community can work together to ensure Call of Duty's success in the future, including how the game will survive outside of MLG. In addition to the panel discussion, viewers and other major personalities in the community will have the chance to call in and voice their opinions.
