Up-and-coming North American StarCraft 2 team Clarity Gaming announced on Saturday the launch of their players academy, with plans to bring in eight players who will compete for a place on the team’s pro roster.
Named the Clarity Academy, participating players will be given the opportunity to take part in team events and practice sessions, with reviews scheduled every three months. Following each review period, team management will decide if any of the Academy players have earned promotions to the player team. Players will be measured on a number of factors that will determine their eligibility for promotion, including their results in tournaments, team leagues and in-house practices.
“Our plans for the Clarity Academy will change the face of professional gaming by fostering new ideas and breaking from the bad habits of the established modes of thought,” said Team Operations Manager Mike “winteR” Ortlani. New talent is the lifeblood of any industry; this is especially true of an industry where being in your mid 20s is considered ‘old’. Clarity Gaming is dedicated to providing the development of high quality gaming and our academy is representative of that.”
“Investing in the future of the industry is the responsibility of all of us who truly care about the growth and sustainability of professional gaming.”Interested players will need to fill out an application and wait for an invitation to a qualifier tournament. Placing in the top four in any of the three qualifier tournaments will move players into one final recruitment tournament, where the top five will move on. The deadline to fill out and submit an application is March 16th, four days after the launch of Heart of the Swarm. Only players living in North America and of Masters or Grand Masters rank will be eligible to apply – see the full requirements list here.
Clarity Gaming CEO Brandon “Adama” Altman made the following statement:
“Clarity Gaming is dedicated to the promotion of the next generation of e-sports’ torch bearers. Investing in the future of the industry is the responsibility of all of us who truly care about the growth and sustainability of professional gaming.”
