Southern California Team (Volunteer)

The positions in this section are voluntary and require the applicant to be local to the southern California area (ESFI is located near Corona, CA). Your gas costs will be covered.

ESFI is seeking enthusiastic on-camera hosts/analysts/commentators (male or female) to contribute towards live and post-produced video content. We’re looking for people who are engaging and focused on creating an entertaining environment. Great opportunity to begin building your on-camera reel/portfolio.

• You will be responsible for hosting video interviews and/or commentating news, events, headlines, gameplay or more. You may be expected to commentate and work with other individuals. The ideal candidate will be able to think on their feet and stay engaged during an interview and towards an online audience. A passion for gaming and knowledge of the e-sports scene is crucial for this position.
• This person reports directly to the Executive Producer.

ESFI is seeking reporters adept with one or more of the game scenes ESFI covers (StarCraft 2, League of Legends, Dota 2, Call of Duty, fighting games). Reporters should be able to connect with the community, understand quality storytelling and able to work with a team and on their own to gather content. The ideal candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to work under a deadline.

• Responsibilities: You will be responsible for writing and/or voicing stories for web and video. Time management skills are a must. Willingness to appear on-camera and available HD camera/webcam equipment from home is a plus, but not required. Video editing skills not required.

ESFI is seeking a Production Assistant for our studio location. This individual will work behind the scenes under the Producer to create engaging programming. The ideal candidate will have an eager and upbeat attitude, able to handle high-pressure situations and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

• Responsibilities: Responsibilities include the set-up and break down of equipment, lighting, operating a studio camera, script and production preparation, assisting anchors and guests, and manage broadcasting software like X-Split and OBS.
• The candidate should have experience with handling a video camera. Good people skills are required.

ESFI is seeking several graphic designers who are able to produce splash images, original logo art, show overlays and other graphic assets for both written and video content.

ESFI is seeking video editors to help produce original content on a semi-daily to weekly basis. This includes things like putting together highlight video reels, editing video interviews, and helping edit other post-produced original video content. Motion graphics experience a plus.

Online Content Team

The Managing Editor works directly under the Editor in Chief and is responsible for supervising the content direction and quality of all written content published on ESFIWorld.com. The ideal candidate should have a background in journalism or wants to pursue a career in journalism. Additionally, candidates should have several hours of availability each day to contribute towards ESFI.

• Responsibilities: You’ll be working with and helping guide the content teams of ESFI (across all game sections). This process includes brainstorming ideas for new content, proofreading and publishing content, helping write content as needed, scheduling content for the week.
• Must be a great proofreader and have strong writing skill
• Experience with WordPress a plus

ESFI is seeking news writers and coverage reporters for StarCraft 2, League of Legends, Dota 2 and fighting games. You will be working directly under the supervision of a content director.

• Responsibilities: writing news items several times per week (you will be reporting on news items as they happen); providing live coverage of events online (score keeping, live blogging, match previews and recaps, analysis); feature articles (interviews, editorials, etc.)

Are you already producing a recurring amount of video content on your own channel? We want to work with you. ESFI offers you a chance to make your current product better with access to a team of graphic and motion graphic designers, growing your presence and giving you more visibility.

ESFI is seeking Korean or Chinese translators who are already regular visitors of reputable Korean or Chinese e-sports sites.

• Responsibilities: you will be responsible for keeping on top of the Korean / Chinese e-sports scenes, regularly visiting relevant e-sport websites and finding news stories to translate into English for publishing on ESFIWorld.com; you will be working directly with the editorial team

Are you very opinionated and aren’t afraid to let other people know it? ESFI is seeking a number of bloggers who are able to submit recurring blog posts (preferably twice a week or every two weeks) for publishing on ESFIWorld.com. The topic or theme of your blog is completely up to you.
